Vertical Gardens

Vertical Gardens
Creating a tranquil retreat in the heart of the city is no longer just a dream – it’s a reality with thoughtful garden design and innovative vertical planting solutions. At Mad About Gardens, we specialise in transforming even the smallest outdoor urban spaces into lush sanctuaries that evoke the feeling of a luxury holiday escape. Our recent project is a prime example of how clever design elements can turn a compact area into a vibrant, welcoming oasis.
One of the standout features of this garden is the striking living wall. Vertical planting is an ingenious way to introduce greenery where ground space is limited. By installing a vertical garden, we were able to breathe life into previously bare walls, creating a lush, layered backdrop that instantly elevates the entire space. This approach not only maximises the use of available square footage but also adds texture, colour, and a sense of tranquillity to the environment.
To further enhance the holiday atmosphere, we incorporated a selection of copper-look pots, which bring warmth and a contemporary edge to the design. These stylish containers are filled with elegant Bambusa, a type of bamboo known for its graceful form and soothing rustle in the breeze. The bamboo adds height, movement, and a touch of the exotic, making the garden feel both private and serene.
Surrounding the inviting plunge pool, we chose classic terracotta tiles, which offer a timeless Mediterranean feel and complement the natural tones of the planting. For the dining and lounge areas, we opted for large-format, smooth sandstone paving. This choice not only creates a seamless, sophisticated look but also provides a durable and comfortable surface for relaxing or entertaining guests.
Every element of this garden has been carefully selected to evoke the essence of a relaxing getaway, right at home. Through the creative use of vertical gardens, stylish containers, and natural materials, we have crafted a small-space sanctuary that is both beautiful and functional – proving that even the most compact urban gardens can become extraordinary retreats.
