DESIGN & INSTALL People
You need a Garden refurb & you need it NOW; you are so excited you just can’t sleep!
You will give Corlea a call to get the ball rolling, & this is what will happen:
SITE SURVEY & DESIGN CONSULTATION
Corlea will visit your Domestic or Commercial Garden to carry out a property survey, assessing the aspect, views, soil conditions, drainage, existing features, and any other elements which may affect the Design of your new Garden.
During the initial consultation we will discuss your budget, establish how you want to use your Garden, and decide what features you would like to be included, such as furniture, lighting, water features and storage solutions.
DESIGN
We will draw up 2 to 3 initial design in 3D. We then design until it is what you want, if we did not get the design right first time around. When you approve the design, we will prepare scaled drawings, including sizes, plant names and quantities, finishes and all other details.
We will also do the outdoor lighting plan.
GARDEN CONSTRUCTION
Once the Design & quote has been agreed, the construction of your new Garden will take place on the agreed start date. All work is carried out to the highest professional standards. We ensure to follow the agreed Design and specifications to provide the finished look you desire.

Once the Garden transformation is complete our professional team will revisit to monitor its development. We offer a scheduled maintenance plan to keep your new garden looking its best all year round, or we will tell you how to do it yourself…

Frequently Asked Questions (Straight from UK Gardeners Like You)
Why should I use a garden designer?
A professional garden designer like our team at Mad About Gardens brings expertise to create functional, sustainable spaces that suit your lifestyle and local environment. We consider soil, climate, and usage—things DIY often overlooks. It’s an investment that saves money long-term by avoiding costly mistakes, like poor plant choices in London’s urban soils. Plus, a well-designed garden can boost your property value by up to 20%. See our projects for examples.
What’s the difference between a garden designer and a landscaper?
Garden designers focus on planning and concepts—creating blueprints, planting schemes, and layouts tailored to your needs. Landscapers handle the build, like installing patios or fences. At Mad About Gardens, we offer both design and project management, overseeing landscapers for seamless results in areas like Surrey or Wiltshire. Hiring a designer first ensures the build matches your vision; skipping it can lead to mismatched outcomes.
What’s included in your garden design service?
Our service covers initial consultations, site surveys, bespoke plans (including 2D/3D visuals), planting schemes, and material recommendations—focusing on eco-friendly options like native plants. We also provide project management oversight. We don’t include construction unless requested, but we coordinate with trusted landscapers to keep things smooth. View our process for a step-by-step breakdown.
Do you have a minimum or maximum garden size you design for?
No strict limits—we handle everything from compact London courtyards (under 50 sqm) to expansive rural plots in Wiltshire (over 500 sqm). Our designs scale to fit, emphasising multi-functional spaces for smaller areas. Tiny gardens benefit most from clever planning, like vertical planting to maximise space; larger ones allow for features like meadows. If your garden is unusual, we’ll assess during the free consultation.
How do I know the design will work for my garden?
We start with a detailed site survey, considering soil type, aspect, drainage, and your preferences—tailored to local conditions in Somerset or Surrey. We provide revisions and 3D visuals for approval. No design is foolproof without input; we collaborate closely to refine it. Plus, our sustainable focus ensures resilience against UK weather. See success stories in our portfolio.
Why invest in professional garden design?
It turns vague ideas into cohesive, practical spaces that enhance your home and wellbeing. Professionals like us spot opportunities (e.g., eco-drainage in flood-prone areas) and avoid pitfalls. DIY can seem cheaper but often leads to rework; our designs add value, with many clients reporting increased enjoyment and property appeal. Explore tips on our blog.
What are your typical lead times?
From consultation to final design, it’s usually 4-8 weeks, depending on complexity and season. Project management adds 2-6 months for builds. We prioritise based on availability in your area, like quicker starts in London. Summer is busiest—book early to avoid delays. Contact us via form for current timelines.
What sustainable trends do you recommend?
We advocate native planting, rainwater harvesting, and wildlife habitats for low-maintenance, eco-friendly gardens. For Surrey patios, integrate permeable surfaces; in Buckinghamshire, focus on biodiversity. These aren’t just trends—they’re practical for UK climates, reducing water bills and supporting pollinators. Read more on our blog.
Do you offer guarantees?
Perennials and Shrubs generally do not hold guarantees, but I revise this from project to project. Valuable trees will normally hold a warrantee. I will uphold all of my suppliers warrantees and guarantees on plants. If there are any issues with plants, the first thing to do is to call us.
